Holidays to Benalmadena

Benalmadena is split into two parts Benalmadena Pueblo and the more popular Benalmadena Costa. Situated above Benalmadena Costa on a steep incline is Benalmadena Pueblo a former fishing village which has retained much of its charm, here you will find a piece of old Spain, a village with cobbled streets and typical whitewashed houses. The resort is located on the Costa del Sol, and lies 15km south west of Malaga airport between the resorts of Fuengirola and Torremolinos.

Benalmadena Costa has a relatively new marina which has been tastefully developed and is able to handle over a 1,000 boats and yachts of all types. The marina has attracted shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and has now become the focal point for Benalmadena's social scene and is central to the resorts life.

In addition to the marina area Benalmadena has more than 8km of blue flag beaches some of which are in small rocky coves. The sand is a little coarser than other nearby resorts but a lot of work is done by the local council to maintain the cleanliness of all of the beaches. There are ample sun loungers and sunshades available for rent all the way along the front.

If you enjoy an evening stroll you can walk one way along the promenade from the marina all the way to Torremolinos or if you head in the opposite direction you can reach the western edge of the resort. The flat promenade has a few points of interest along the way such as ancient Moorish Watchtowers and lots of small bars and restaurants that will tempt you to stop by for a meal or a few refreshments.

There is no shortage of places to stay in Benalmadena Costa the resort has a whole range of hotels and self catering apartments to suit every pocket. This choice of accommodation attracts a cross section of holidaymakers from the budget conscious family visitors up to the casino and yachting fraternity.

Benalmadena Costa provides plenty of entertainment to amuse the kids, parents and the 18-30 year olds alike. Tivoli World amusement park in nearby Arroyo de la Miel has Wild West and flamenco shows and a cable-car ride. Another interesting distraction from the beach are the Selwo Marina Dolphinarium and the Sealife Centre which has the largest shark collection in Europe. There is a choice of water sports facilities at the yacht club and plenty of top quality golf courses in the vicinity. By night there is an abundance of bars and nightclubs and also a casino at the 5 star Hotel Torrequebrada.
