The popular resort of Fuengirola is situated just 20km south west of Malaga airport and approximately half way between Malaga and Marbella. It is the third largest tourist development on this section of Spain's Costa del Sol, along with Torremolinos and Benalmadena Costa.

Fuengirola has a wide appeal and the infrastructure here caters for for all age groups, however it is probably more popular with families and older couples than with the younger crowd. The beaches here are wide and extend along the whole length of the resort area except the central marina area from where you can take part in a selection of watersports. There is a large choice of eateries serving all kinds of food from pub grub and fish and chip shops to high quality restaurants.

There are many ways to fill your time on your holday in Fuengirola. It is possible to spend many happy hours wandering along the long flat promenade that skirts the coastline with the opportunity to stop at one or two of the many bars and cafés. If you can handle the climb it is possible to visit the remains of the Moorish castle of Sohail that is situated on the western edge of the resort. A good day for shoppers is Tuesday this is the day when the weekly market comes to town.This busy market is very popular with locals and tourists alike, here you will find plenty of local arts and crafts, leather items and jewellery.
If you would like to venture further afield from your holiday base there are a good choice of half day excursions for example you can visit,
Marbella, Mijas, the Caves of Nerja and the city of Malaga. On full day tours you can visit Granada and the Alhambra Palace, Seville, Cordoba and Ronda. Other long day tours are a Gibraltar trip for shopping and a full day excursion to Morocco.
