Holidays To Oia

Oia village is known for its magnificent sunset view point. Dozens of visitors make their way to Oia every day, to enjoy the sun setting. The village itself has many shops and restaurants, beautiful architecture and is mainly built on the old path that connects Oia with Thira. If you don't feel like walking (the nearest village that connects to Oia from the path is Imerovigli, 9 km away) you can get there by car, taxi or bus.

The main marble road with it's imposing captain houses, the churches dedicated to sailors, the canavas and the raki distillers, are all evidence of the history of this beautiful village, when the wooden ships of Apano Meria (Oia) would cross the Mediterranean carrying the heady sweet vinsanto wine and return with timber, porcelain and silverware for the mansions of captains. Holidays To Thira

Thira is the capital of the island, built on the edge of the Caldera. The western part of Fira, facing the Caldera, still maintains its unique colour and beauty despite the intensive tourism and the dozens of clubs, bars and shops. This part of the town is paved and you can only walk around it through the narrow cobbled streets.

The best time to have a peaceful wander around town is in the afternoon. During that time you can enjoy every single picturesque corner of the town, from Kato Thira where the church of Aghios Minas is, to the Orthodox Metropolis of Ypapanti, the Museum of Prehistoric Thera and the Belloneio Cultural Centre, or, from northern Thira, where the catholic quarter and the Metropolis of Aghios Ioannis the Baptist are located, up to Megaro Gyzi. Search Santorini Hotels Here...

Kamari is the most famous beach on the east coast of the island. The seafront is filled with cafés, restaurants and hotels. In the summer months the blue flag beach can get very busy while the sun is up. Make sure to visit the cobblestone walkway after sunset to enjoy a stroll among street vendors and artists.

Kamari is of great historical importance, as in Mesa Vouno, the ruins of the  Ancient Thera were discovered. Ancient Thera is a city that was the only urban centre of the island until the expansion of Christianity. You may reach the ruins hiking up or by car. Search Santorini Hotels Here...

Perissa is one of the most developed and popular resorts on the island along with Perivolos and Kamari. The sea waters are deep and clean while the beach has black sand. It is a village full of life during the summer months, when a great number of tourists visit the village. Enjoy the comfort of a well organized beach providing water sports and a wide range of accommodation, eateries and entertainment.

The church of Timios Stavros is situated in Perissa’s square and it is the largest church on the island with a great festival on the 14th of September. If you look in the rock you will see Panagia Katefiani, a small church by itself on the cliff side. Its festival is on the 8th of September. Search Santorini Hotels Here...

Excursions & Things To Do In Santorini

Santorini has much more to offer to its visitors than the ordinary tourist attractions. The discerning traveller can explore and discover a world of authentic and enriching experiences, geology, history, gastronomy, and culture.

The ancient city at Akrotiri is not just the most important archaeological site on the island. But, thanks to its excellent state of preservation and the wealth of finds it has yielded, it is also the most important prehistoric settlement found anywhere in the Eastern Mediterranean. Akrotiri could be characterised as the prehistoric Pompeii of the Aegean.

Palea & Nea Kameni Volcano The two small islands in the centre of the Santorini caldera, Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni, “the volcano” according to the locals, are the youngest volcanic lands in the Eastern Mediterranean.
